Recommendations for a Volvo shop in Western MA?

I was wondering if anybody might have any recommendations for a good Volvo mechanic out in Western Mass. The dealer I've been using in the area has been good to me so far, but they recently hiked up their labor rate, moving them from the 'competitive' end of the spectrum over to the 'average-expensive' side.

So far I have tried Greenfield Auto Specialists (formerly Greenfield Imported Cars), but I found them more expensive and harder to deal with than the dealer. Performance Motoring in Hadley used to be another option, but they have since been taken over by/merged with the local Subaru dealership (Steve Lewis) and they seem to have been letting the Volvo business fall by the wayside a bit. They don't seem to be emphasizing their Volvo expertise at all anymore, and when I called for estimates on jobs I got a quote that was twice the price of the dealership the first time ($1450 instead of $800, a pretty significant difference), and no call back at all the second time.

So, I'm looking for alternatives—does anybody have any? I'm in the Amherst-Northampton area, and willing to travel a bit for the right shop.

Looks like I can add something to this thread myself: I just read in the local newspaper that a new Volvo/Saab/Subaru indie (appropriately named "Indie Automotive") opened in nearby Hatfield, MA. The two owners both seem to have good pedigrees: one of them used to be the shop foreman at the local Volvo/Saab dealership, and the other one was a mechanic at Performance Motoring (Volvo, then Subaru). They recently opened their own shop together. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm going to check them out and I'll report back.

Talk to Paul Newcombe or his wife Melissa at NEWCOMOTION in Wendell. His specialty is 240s, but I've seen plenty of XC70s and other models in his lot. Paul is an amazing mechanic and all-around great guy. Hands down best Volvo mechanic in the 413/978. Since I started going to him about 4 years ago I would not trust my Volvos with anyone else.

I highly recommend Paul Newcombe aka Newcomotion in Wendell MA. He’s a Master Volvo Tech in every way. Plus he’s a pleasure to work.
