Replacing rear shocks on '06 V70. Should upper shock mounts automatically get replaced. Outside of being torn (mine are not) why would they be replaced. Rubber pliabilty ?

I don't think it's needed for the rear ones. Rarely heard of them going bad (the front ones however do). A few tips if you need www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7gsgr9YWy4

I ordered a set a number of years ago. Removed the old ones which looked perfect and returned the new set as unneeded.

If they look fine keep what you have.

Were your dampers leaking oil?

Or are you doing this to improve the ride in the rear of the car?

I've replaced several rear & front coil springs (they rust & crack over time), but never had a rear damper that was leaking. To me, if it ain't leaking, I don't mess with it.

If it’s under an hour job I would re use those parts.
