1 Sell the Miata to the teenage girl next door
2 Remove front clip
Check the parking brake. I had a hot wheel on my 1998 V70 and it turned out to be the parking brakes coming apart.WhatAmIDoing wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 11:36 Heard a horrible screeching noise on my commute home, sounded like brakes on a big truck. Checked rotors, 3 out of 4 cool to touch, but LR I burned myself touching the rim spoke. Something hot back there. Loosened the bleeder screw on the caliper, and some fluid came out. Removed the old pads. Everything was horribly rusty and had to be yanked out. Back plates were delaminating and pads were worn uneven. Also think the rotor is slightly warped. I pulled the caliper and rotor off to inspect the hub. Hub will turn freely with a little effort, but certainty wont spin freely on its own. How stiff is too stiff for a wheel hub?
Worst case thinking I'm out for 2 new rotors, set of rear pads, LR caliper, and a new rear wheel hub. Great...
The parking brake shoes were removed on that side years ago because they seized out. Wish it would have been that simple.dalel wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 12:40Check the parking brake. The real shame of it is that, at the end of this job, you still own a New Beetle!
