Thanked Volvo for making stuff accessible. Made easier by first instruction on replacing the radiator in my New Beetle -

1 Sell the Miata to the teenage girl next door

2 Remove front clip

Lazyness got me, I fixed only 3 out of the 4 door lock switches a few month ago, just found the 4th door closed with the marker light on :P

Good news, the coilovers where shipped this morning so I should be able to do suspension and oil change next week end

Checked rotors, 3 out of 4 cool to touch, but LR I burned myself touching the rim spoke. Something hot back there. Loosened the bleeder screw on the caliper, and some fluid came out. Removed the old pads. Everything was horribly rusty and had to be yanked out. Back plates were delaminating and pads were worn uneven. Also think the rotor is slightly warped. I pulled the caliper and rotor off to inspect the hub. Hub will turn freely with a little effort, but certainty wont spin freely on its own. How stiff is too stiff for a wheel hub?

Worst case thinking I'm out for 2 new rotors, set of rear pads, LR caliper, and a new rear wheel hub. Great...
Check the parking brake. I had a hot wheel on my 1998 V70 and it turned out to be the parking brakes coming apart.

The parking brake shoes were removed on that side years ago because they seized out. Wish it would have been that simple.

The real shame of it is that, at the end of this job, you still own a New Beetle!

Also... I did a thing today...

Also installed the B4 servo cover update kit on the '03 today. Drove it almost 60 miles already after wrapping up the first transmission drain and fill tonight and it's already shifting WAY better. It had a couple flares, but way less than before. By the end of the drive, it was shifting very smoothly. Hopefully it continues on this track!

I removed the fuel tank from Mr Red Volvo, to repair the dreaded heat shield crack.
