Hi all,
Was looking at the tailpipe and noticed that the bracket holding the back part of the tailpipe was very rusted and falling apart. See here:
Can this bracket be easily replaced? What is the part I need? I found this video showing a 'ghetto' fix, but was wondering if there was a cost effective way to actually replace the bracket. Would there be welding involved? Anyone have a step-by-step? If it needs to be welded to the tailpipe/muffler, i may buy the part and bring it to someone.
I also checked the one slightly farther up the exhaust, and it looked fine (to my untrained eye). Perhaps was replaced already:

Thanks oragex - would the one in your link fit my 2004 2.5T AWD US model? It seems to only fit when I select S60 I. What does that "I" mean?

1+,
The MIDDLE hanger was already replaced.
The REAR hanger: get the ebay thingy posted above. Or find a similar piece of metal and ask local shop to weld it for you.

Thanks everyone - i ordered the bracket from ebay. Anyone know if i'll need bolt cutters or something to remove the original? It looks like it started off as welded to the pipe? I don't want to mess with it until i have the replacement.

That's not a part made by Volvo,it's a generic metal clamp. Are you replacing it just because its rusty? Itsaboutv5 years from actually failing

It felt like it was falling apart. I touched it and parts of the rusted metal fell right off. Figured it was better to replace. Or I guess I'll have the clamp ready if it's actually still solid.

See how it goes with the install. You may want to use that remaining piece of metal still welded, as it may keep the new bracket from moving down the exhaust tip. The idea is to secure the bracket as close as possible to the muffler box instead of far down on the exhaust tip, because this tip is welded to the box and will break off at some point if it carries that much weight from the hanger. The whole exhaust on this car is surprisingly heavy (thick solid quality metal sheet that lasts forever) and the design with the bracket attached to the tip was a poor choice as the tip can break off from the muffler box - yours is still good, but you should see mine who gave up some time ago for this reason www.youtube.com/watch?v=i21XF8K1eHMStickyPocket wrote: ↑19 Sep 2019, 16:49 Thanks everyone - i ordered the bracket from ebay.
