1999 Volvo S80 heat and a/c control panel

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

1999 Volvo S80 heat and a/c control panel

Post by DaveC79 »

Hello from Florida. My name is Dave. I joined in hopes of getting some insight from real Volvo enthusiasts. My local Volvo dealer said that it's to old for them to help in anyway. Instead of arguing with them, I chose to come here for help.

My son's Volvo is a 1999 S80.
Aside from the lighter, nothing else works on the control panel. It looks like the lighter may be wired separate from the rest of the panel. The guy at AutoZone said the only code the car gives has something to do with a relay. That didn't help as I'm awfully sure it isn't a relay problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need any more information, please let me know. Thank you.

Dave

I replaced the panel 3 times and the wires. This is fixed.

If you are a do it yourself kinda guy and you plan on working on that S80 you will need VIDA from what I understand. Going to Autozone won't cut it. Most everything electronic is married to the car's computer system. A different part will have to be programmed in a lot of cases. My 04 S80 (essentially the same car as the 99) is strictly dealer serviced so they could easily have worked on it. The dealer won't likely bother with used parts. I understand some parts can plug and play if the numbers match like a window switch.

Search MVS for VIDA and DICE to understand what you will need to properly interact with the car's computer and actually get correct codes and repair procedures. Keep with it, June
