2002 S60 Base.
I installed a Yatour YT M06-VOLHU to add a AUX port to my HU613, it also adds a virtual CD changer which uses an SD card. It plugs into the CD changer port and pulls power from the unswitched lead to the radio.
Works fine .. . except. When the engines on, I get a whine in the speakers that varies with the engine speed. This is there if the CD changer is selected or not selected.
If I disconnect the Yatour, the whine goes away. The cable is left in place.
Any thoughts?
My coils aren't genuine Volvo if that makes a difference?

Make sure the cable is shielded or it will couple in RF from the ignition system
After market coils generally suck unless you know the brand like Bosch

This unit has a fat cable with a DIN plug on one end and something that looks like a mini centronics connector on the other end. I would assume that the cable has some shielding. How could I shield it? Wrap it in aluminum foil and ground the foil?
Do you think that the interference is getting fed to the radio though the power connection? Power is spliced into the unswitched power lead to the radio. The Yatour wants unswitched power to maintain its memory. Where else could I find unswitched power without running a lead to the battery?
As for the coils, I bought a set of Delphi coils on Ebay a few years back. The car runs well with them but that doesn't mean that they aren't causing other problems. I have a set of Volvo or Bosch coils on my dead V70. If the weather holds, I'll switch those out.
Thanks.

I have a 2004 V70 and installed a similar Yatour device. Mine has the addition of the USB port but is otherwise like yours. I've not had any noise issues. I have the VOLVO factory issue coils.
Les is more.

Ground loop.
I had to add filters for both power and line-in for my aftermarket amp that drives central speaker.
Have this one for power: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0049MWUMQ It was DOA, but I was able to swap transistors and capacitor, so it works.

Yesterday's weather was nice and I was off work so I switched out my coils for a mixed set of Bosch and Volvo that I had in my garage (interestingly the Volvo branded ones were made in Germany and the Bosch in Serbia).
Same problem. Something that I forgot to mention before is that the whine persists in the speakers even if the radio unit is turned off.

I only have a basic understanding of DC electricity so explain this in simple terms, please.
I would assume that the Yatour is grounded through the DIN plug that goes into the CD Changer port on the back of the radio.
Looking at that gadget you mentioned, I would guess that one line in power in, the other is power out, the the green with goes to a good ground.
