2000 S80 Installed new ABS Module but no change

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2000 S80 Installed new ABS Module but no change

Post by s80headache »

So I'm new to Volvo's but from what I've seen, my issue is a common one. I have all the symptoms of a bad ABS/STC Module; Like "brake failure stop safely asap" ABS light, STC light, loss of tach and speedo and some sort of limp mode. Occasionally a "Transmission service required" message. I turn the car off, and everything seems fine until I hit about 20 mph and then it starts all over again.

I have tried 3 different ABS/STC Modules including a BBA Reman that I just purchased, but I'm still having the same issues.

Any ideas on what I should check for next ??

Have you checked all the wheel sensors to make sure they aren't all fouled up with crud and that each one of their reluctor rings are clean? Also the wires leading to the sensors.

99 S 80 same abs and lights galore. I have gone so far as just parking it and playing around with looking for bad connections etc for the last 3 years. Yes ABS module rebuilt re checked and replaced with new. (Donnie) in this forum mentioned the wire loom under the radiator that goes to main computers but didn't mention what and how. I have wiggled mine and my alarm started to make some weird noises and the car started up right after that . Now its getting worse . disconnecting rarely works to restart now . DUNNO !!

I'm also new here and I'm looking forward to learn from you guys.

I just put a new battery in my 2000 S80 and now the panel that controls the a/c, heated seats, climate control, etc does not work. Also the air bag light came on. What is going on? How can I fix it?

Jumping back in after giving up on my S80 a few years ago .
I have for a few years contemplated having the CEM checked .This year I puled the CEM and PCM and sent to XeMODeX in Ontario Canada to be checked as I had spent years checking every wire , ground's, module's in CAN network . I had them returned a few days ago and the report was CEM had intermittent problem . Cloned original unt and reprogram a new one . I re-installed and this car is running like new with no new issues . The PCM they tested had no problems . It was a tough choice to spend approx $800 but car would need to be scraped otherwise . Love the ol S80 and still looks great as it's been just parked in my shop accumulating dust for the last few years . Keeping fingers crossed ,F :D eel confident as I have been driving for a few days and no more issues . If it tends to fail at all i will repost as i know how agonising this issue has been for many of us .
