Ghost Code = Service Engine Soon Light

Car runs flawlessly. I read codes = "No Codes". During State Safety & Emissions Testing, MIL on and my buddy says "there's no codes?". About 5 or so years back we were renting a Harley and there was a big Volvo dealer next door. Gave it to them for a day, asked for most knowledgeable Tech, they introduce me and I explained situation. He said he'd try to figure out and liked the challenge. Next day, couldn't figure out = nothing wrong with car. WTF!!!

Well this was never a big deal as it always went thru inspection and runs like a top. Well now that we're trying to seal the car it is a problem for sure, would you buy a car with a Service Engine Soon and MIL illuminated? I wouldn't...

Any help appreciated.

You will have to sell in a non-inspection state ,certainly.

Have you connected it to VIDA?

You can try a cloned ECU from Henry as the last solution

IMO, a must have for the serious Volvo owner .. and I mean serious !
My '03 S60 has two computers, side by side, forward of the PS reservoir and coolant tank.
Also , IMO, corporate Volvo should help here !
Check that all contacts at the OBD plug in are good .

So went to Volvo and received (no cost) scan, turns out the Brake Pedal Position Sensor was it. Sold car today.
