1992 245 Engine B230F PVC sump hose not there... I know

Post by sergitin32 »

:?
I was in the action of cleaning the breather box and oil trap for this car when I noticed there is no hose for the oil to drain into the sump, so I purchased it from IPD together with the oil basin gasket and a new copper washer for the oil plug when changing oil.

Once down there draining the oil I realized removing the sump or oil pan is not that straight forward as I was thinking...A lot of the bolts are not so easy to reach. Anyone has any advice, I ran short at the job and want to double-check that there is no way to put it back from above plus I am not sure if the hose is in there or what...
Anyone knows of any combo of wrenching and extensions and sockets to remove the basin without lifting the engine? I can see if I remove the flywheel cover there are almost half tor two-thirds of the bolts off but the ones under the cross member under the engine (not sure name) what If I remove the rubber engine supports and jack the engine up a little bit in order to get more space in there? as long as I don't need to disengage the engine from the tranny etc... I work in the underground parkade of a strata condominium hence there is no a lot of nice lifting tools etc, that would be a travel to the mechanic... hence putting me back like 1k or so, not the route I wanna take.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I am putting the car for sale and there are a few projects like this one on the go... so far not having much luck...

Haynes manual to 1974 to 1986 ( I think this will still apply to 1992) says you will need to raise the engine somehow. Suggests a cross bar across the shock towers and a threaded hook. It also says to remove bolts on coupler on the steering shaft and slide the coupler up the shaft. Also remove the left engine mount. Other details, but they should be obvious.
Find one of these old Haynes manuals if you do not have one.
