2001 V70XC - Leak at radiator hose to thermostat Topic is solved

190,000+ miles. The task to remove and install radiator is not difficult. The two replaced in our '87 850 & 2013 XC90 were Volvo.

I found radiator made by Nissens, Behr, and TYC. I stick to Volvo for critical functions and 100% out-of-the-box fit. But happy to take your recommendation for a best match.

Just make sure the radiator is mounted solidly and the engine mounts are solid. Engine torque on the radiator snouts will break the plastic side tanks from the metal radiator seal in short order. Mine took only 3 years

Small coolant lose. I am noticing coolant residue just below the upper trans-color line. The rubber hose below that is connected to condenser is wet from the drip.

This is a persistent slow leak since the install -- replacement Volvo radiator pn 31319056.

The coolant escapes at the reservoir overflow nipple. Every few weeks the level drops to min. Blue/Green residue collect at the reservoir seam. Is the hose failing?

Found wetness and crystalized residue at the connection, the clamp is at max. Is the hose failing or the reservoir cracked?

Probably cracked reservoir. I remove it and inspect under bright light

You can cut off the 'molded' end of the hose that connects to the overflow jar, then push it back on and snug it back up.

This is original hose -- maybe dried and hardened. A good weekend for this maintenance.

Cut off 1" from the bleeder hose at the reservoir and reconnected. The wetness was visible at the either end of the bleeder hose, reservoir and radiator respectively.

This thread is reverted to UNSOLVED since the slow escape of coolant continues.
What's best type of hose to purchase from the auto parts store to replace the bleeder hose -- ID, material, etc?
