Daughter lost her ignition key for her 1997 850. We only had one key for that car. How screwed am I?

There is no chip for pre-99 cars so no programing.
A dealer or an authorized locksmith can order a pre-cut key from Volvo. They will need the VIN number and proof of ownership. Some can cut from VIN number onsite.

You guys are lucky....EU cars have chipped keys from '96.
