2.3L crankshaft gear puller recommendation?
I'm going to replace crankshaft front seal and camshafts seals soon on my 01 v70 2.3L T5. Can someone recommend a specific brand or generic type puller to remove the crank gear?

I just did this job (replaced the crank front seal) recently and used a standard type medium sized 2 jaw puller to pull off the crank timing belt pulley. I do recommend using the special 4 bolt front pulley crank hold tool when loosening and tightening the crank pulley bolt.
One thing you have to be careful of is to keep the crank from spinning while using the puller, especially if you've removed the timing belt, which I don't recommend until later. As I tightened the puller the crank would want to spin so you have hold the puller or use one those special crank hold tools, which I didn't have, that's inserted through a hole in the block. I used a crescent wrench on the puller to keep the crank from spinning. I also left the timing belt on and tensioned as the pulley was being pulled off the crank in case the crank did spin. After the timing belt pulley moves off the crank some you can loosen the tensioner and pull it off the rest of the way.

Thanks for the reply and photos!
Maybe, I'm over-thinking this, but I've looked at the related VIDA repair instructions, and they show a "universal" 2-jaw puller like this to remove the crank gear.
I'm seeing similar pullers that I can get, but they come in different sizes for different gear sizes. Typically the sizes are 2", 3", 4", 5", etc. So, does anybody know the approximate diameter of my crank gear?

Yes, I figured one of these inexpensive, flat steering-wheel-type pullers would also work. Thanks for the input.XC70Rider wrote: ↑08 Oct 2019, 19:43 I used this universal puller to get it off my 2.5T. The size can be adjusted.

To remove the ctankshaft gear I rented this puller from autozone

The gear can only slide back onto the rod in 1 sequence so no markings are needed.
