2004 Volvo S60 rear brake hose removal
2004 Volvo S60 rear brake hose removal
Can anyone tell me how to replace rear brake hose on a 2004 Volvo S60? There's a bracket in the way of the connection at the brake line and the hose. The front one was easy. Please help. Thanks

I have an '03 ..with a ''soft'' pedal ..even after bleeding and bleeding, using gravity and pressure at the master cylinder . .. I cannot remember any bracket, this was last year .. I guess the bracket must go . And, to do that, you may have to disassemble the entire rear brake system ! "Modern" cars were NOT meant to be worked on ! Key word is ''throw-away''......end of rant … IF I owned the Volvo repair manual , I could help ..Well, now we know why the dealer charges $500 to do only this task !
I found the answer , its under ''similar topics'' - with any number of replies . AND, its not as bad, not nearly as bad as I say it is …

I just did the same on my 03 XC70 rear left caliper + hose. It can be done without taking out the whole assembly per link above with a caveat. What I did:
1. clear all debris from the brake tube nut connection with wire brush and spray with liquid wrench( or you favorite )
2. loosen the bracket where the metal brake tube joins to flex tube by undoing the screw attaching it to front part of wheel well - 10mm ratcheting wrench helpful
3. undo the caliper and bracket from rear knuckle and have it ready to remove from vehicle - 15mm bolts. Have the new caliper with flex hose already attached and ready to go.
4. pack towel under above bracket to catch brake fluid
5. disconnect by turning the 13mm brake tube nut on the metal tube side while holding the flex tube nut steady with 14mm wrench. You have space to turn 1/8 turn at the time by flipping the 13mm wrench back and forth. Patience is needed.
6. don't worry about hurrying as you loose only about 30% of fluid on the brake fluid reservoir working steadily
7. install is reverse of removal
