2007 S80 3.2 FWD Auto - Battery Life

Just replaced the battery on wife's S80. Battery was Volvo branded with date sticker from 1/16, so not even 4 years. Sounds very short-lived.

Has anybody else seen such short battery life?

If the car is used daily, I would be checking out the charging system for over or under charging.

If the car is not used daily, that is it sits for long periods without use, I would install a $5.00 float charger and keep it plugged in to maintain the battery.

Not necessarily used daily. I'd say 4-5 x/week, but mostly short trips. I need to get it out on the highway 1x a week, I'm thinking.

The car is also tricked out with oodles of electronics. Whenever I get close to it with the key fob in my hand, and before I touch any buttons on the fob,I hear all sorts of stuff clicking inside the car. That's got to cost some battery life.
