Noticed left side of rear bumper was sagging an inch or two. Yanked it up but I think it drops again when going over a bump in the road.
I see some sort of bracket probably going into a square beam by the tail pipe. Maybe has one vertical bolt visible.
What do I need ? An exploded diagram would help. Is this a junkyard part they can pull for me, or is it sill available new?

You need some mounting brackets. When you remove the bumper, the existing brackets will appear like my favorite Greek pastry, baklava -- flaky layers of rusted metal. They were available at least a few years ago. About $20/pop if I recall correctly. A PITA, but not particularly difficult DIY. I spray painted the replacements with some rattle can rustoleum before installing them. Who knows if it helped.

Replacing the brackets isn't that hard of a job, as long as you don't live north of the rust belt
They're around 20$ a piece, I think most junkyards ones will be rusted anyway.
Here's mine, and those are far from the worst I've seen

I remember Robert saying he modded his new brackets by making a small "gutter" with a dremel: they rust because of a bad design, water get stuck inside.

Positively pristine compared to the ones my brother and I replaced.

How do I remove the bumper - anything other than that big vertical bolt I see? Looks awfully rusted too - does it tend to break or soak it in rust-cutter lube first? I realy need to see a diagram before I am willing to starting wrenching.
So probabably an online parts store part?

I have a rust free pair complete with hardware. We don't know what rust is here. Yours for cost of postage. That is unless you already made a deal with Abscate.
OOps, I may have spoken too soon. These came off of a V70. Check for compatibility with an 850.
Part number is 6816114

This may be for naught... today the sway bar broke & was dragging on the ground. Left it at the shop so they may as well do the bumper. Its raining anyway.

You do want to try get some PB Blaster up on top of the bolt ends where they thread in, and an impact is good on these, too.
I put the part numbers in my thread because I am a self righteous OCD wanker
