Hi all, new to this site and first time Volvo owner!
I just bought a 98 V70 T5 with 160,000 miles and was wondering what I can tweak in terms of getting a little more Horsies pumping from under the hood. From what I’ve read online, the stock T5’s output is 237HP, which was impressive in the 90s but a little lacking today. I’m looking to get as close to 300 as I can while trying to stay as close to stock as possible. Where should I start?

~300hp ... Get the stock engine and transmission ship shape (Stage 0) Then a ECU tune.
Look through the BSR Tuning kits for that car to get an idea of what it would take to meet your criteria.

As RickHaleParker said: First a good Stage 0 including Timing Blet, PCV system ignition, all vacum hoses etc.
Then you´ll need a freeflowing exhaust, possibly a 3 inch downpipe and a good Tune. BSR has kits, ARD and VA5T have custom tunes.
THis should get you close to 300hp. More would blow upt the tranny in the long run if you have an AT. If you are lucky and have the manual you could go higher, but towards 400 hp the con rods will bend. Forged ones are out there.
Swedespeed has a really nice T5 tuning guide.
