I would pull the cap and check underneath it for condensation and/or oil. Very common for a cam seal to become dislodged and cause random and intermittent misfires.

For investigating the MAF, try unplugging the MAF before starting the car. Does it run OK (it should)? If so, drive it around and see if it stumbles. abscate hates this test but it works on 93-98 cars. Bremi MAF is a no-no. MAF must be Bosch on this car. A good budget source for Bosch MAF is the junkyard, almost all of them at the yard are working.
