Just inherited this vehicle and noticed this issue right away. I checked the power steering fluid, took a look at the brakes (plenty of life left) and I'm not sure what's causing it.
We hear it when we're turning. I'll roll down the window while we're driving around the apartment and start making left and right turns and that's when I can get a good listen at it.
I came from a Ford Mustang so this Volvo is a bit mysterious right now.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I'm positive that brakes aren't the issue. Suspiciously the noise has disappeared as of now, so I guess it's a matter of if it returns.
