LED xc70 dash lights

Post by darylrobert »

Has anyone tried LED dash and instrument cluster lights?..i purchased some T5 pure white and green LED bulbs, first off the white bulbs yurn the cluster a weird green colour (see pic), secondly they created bright and dark spots (uneven lighting) which looked terrible. The solution was to order Warm white 5mm leds (built in resistor) and take apart the T5 LED and fit the 5mm LED, i also sanded (diffused) using light sand paper, the result is very very close to factory. These lights are "always on" with the ignition key, they are not switched to the headlights as i wrongly assumed.

The headlight switch is NOT T5, its a smaller size i think T3 or T4.3?...i ended up taking the incandesant bulb out and fitting a warm white LED in its place on the holder (see pic), i didnt put the blue silicon sleeve over the bulb.
