Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
I recently did my fourth D & F on my ' '06 V70. Think I'll do one every other oil change (10k). Is that overkill ?

Not overkill, but I’d tighten up that OCI.

To me 5k is too long. I’d shoot for 3-4K tops even though yours is NA. Synthetic of course. 10k for ATF is great.

Really, I was told and always thought at 3k change w/ synthetic your wasting oil. I think I'll start doing this interval. Thanks

Not wasting, just use it in your 2-cycle engines
I think most would agree that the 7,500 mile OCI Volvo calls for is pretty much double what these engines should really be seeing.
I buy oil when it’s on sale & mail in rebates are available. Another way to save money is to run 15-40 in summer temps. At summer temps 15-40 is the same as 5-40.

You settle the oil change interval question with data from Blackstone.- Pete - wrote: ↑11 Nov 2019, 11:01 Not wasting, just use it in your 2-cycle engines

My all highway P2 driven tested like new oil at 7500 miles, even TBN was like new, no water, no fuel.
I change it at 7500 and top off the T5 with the old oil

Fleets do this to maximize value of maintenance dollars. Economically it doesn’t make as much sense for a single car (tests cost $25) except to gather info on your oil aging pattern.
Here is an example of oil changed at 7500 miles, I don’t have to guess engine or oil condition on one of my prime runners. In this case , after 7500 miles my oil is still like new. I choose to change it on this car, one of my two prime cars, and use the oil as top,off for my winter or Airport rats
