I live in England the cost of living is high as is petrol.
Can anyone help me I have a spare key with spare chips can anyone tell how I can program it Volvo want £420.00 for key and remote! I only paid £500.00 for the car!
It is 1999/2000 V70 estate it has low mileage and is a good run around which I am restoring any advice will be much appreciated.

It should be about one hour labour to program a key with any mechanic with VIDA

Mine charges $40 for a key, no fob

I managed to get a spare key for my 1996 850 from Timpsons. I think it was something like £54, which is still quite a lot but about as cheap as you'll get for a chipped key. Not all Timpsons branches have the same gear so try a few if the first one doesn't work.

There's also the option of taping the original key under the column shroud and using uncoded keys, although that's obviously a bit of a security risk.

For the remotes I think the cheapest option is to get hold of a pair of fobs and the receiver from a breaker. New fob casings/buttons are cheap so condition isn't too important as long as they work.
