it kinda amazes me there are no solutions out there to fix a problematic OBD reading. Wait, VW found something, maybe they are willing to share their knowledge ...

EFI-541 (P0444) Canister purge (CP) valve, signal
Condition
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) EFI-541 (Canister purge (CP) valve, signal) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) registers a fault in the canister purge (CP) valve coil or cables after 5 seconds.

Substitute value
2-heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) control disabled
the electrical test of the front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) is disabled
the electrical test of the rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) is disabled
the pulsed secondary air injection system (PAIR) test is disabled
the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) test is disabled
the three-way catalytic converter (TWC) test is disabled
leak diagnostic disabled
fuel shut-off conditions changed.
Marco, those two codes are disabling theECM checks of the other systems, so you won’t get readiness.

But how? Why aren't those codes just coming on? I got out work too late (and it's too cold) to check out this fuse...

The engine management is complex, it’s not just looking for signals,

To pop a misfire code , for example, P0303 for cylinder 3 misfire, it has to be detected over a certain interval for at least a certain number of revolutions.

If the evap system can’t complete, it tries twice more during your drive , then gives up until the next one. The code will show pending, but the CEL won’t come on because the cycle didn’t complete

She is just playing for attention. You spend too much time working on something else.

What sucks is that in NYS, if I take it to a shop and am charged over $400 for check engine repairs (during inspection), they can push through the inspection. (I just looked this up today.) But there's no check engine light... So no codes are triggering. So frustrating. I did have p0442 and P0133 codes pending for a few minutes as I kept scanning for I/M readiness. But when I rescanned the engine a half hour later, they were gone.

So,
- check fuse
- replace purge valve
- replace front o2 sensor

Anything else?

Using VIDA you can force the evap test to run at your will =)

In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.
