2000 C70 HT 2.3 3rd Brake Light

Well it seems Volvo wants you to replace the entire brake light assembly when it goes out,I love the craftsmanship that went in to these C70's when they were hand built for however many years they were but this seems absolutely absurd. I took me the better part of an hour to get it out from all the adhesive used to install it and it was attached to the weatherstriping to boot, then i see there is no way to replace a bulb, I assume it's LED but it still could have been made so it can be replaced,now i have yo buy the entire 3rd brake light,I tested it with 12 volts and it does not light up. I will post a few pictures after church this morning.

Take a picture of the pc board on the back of it, I'd be willing to bet a voltage regulator died as I cannot think of any other reason the entire assembly would stop working.

It won’t be LED in year 2000, designed in 1990.

I think it is a one piece unit though.

Google part number for eBay replacement.

I thought the P80 V70 3rd brakelight was LED. What else coulb be that tiny and bright with only 3W (if I remember the value on the V70 bulb indicator assembly correctly)?

All i know is it has 2 wires going to it and no way to service it,can't be opened to check for a bulb type if any.
