Re: 98 V70 xc: Problems with air intake/vacuum lines since pcv job
I think I have it all figured out except the loose TVC hose. I pulled off the old ptc hose and will go get fresh line tomorrow. Now the TCV is weird. There are already 2 of those 3 hoses that go down to the turbo area. The last one left doesn't seem to have a place to go. That fresh air nipple you mentioned already has a line hooked up to it.

If I remember correctly, the TCV has one hose that heads to the air snorkel, one that heads to the wastegate and one that heads to turbo at the bottom side of the turbo.
The CBV hose on the top/back of the turbo should go straight to the intake manifold.

The TCV has three connections,
Two on the turbo
The third goes onto the snorkel ( big flex hose in the picture above ) on the other side of the PTC orfice/ nipple ( mistakenly often called a valve)

I'm sorry, are you referring to the circled item in this pic? That is already hooked up. Also the 2 that go on the turbo are already hooked up; the 3rd one (arrow in pic) is still loose though. Can you please use my pic to demonstrate where to put the loose hose?

Your best bet is to consider where the vacuum lines belong, not what is already hooked up.
Look at the TCV picture with the colored lines for reference, and my previous post about the TCV. Those instructions are still correct. The TCV has three lines on it. The blue line from the TCV goes to that nipple you circled. So whatever is on there now, belongs somewhere else. Sounds like the other two TCV lines are hooked up correctly, to the turbo.
Where is the other end of that line that belongs somewhere else, where is it coming from?

The other end of that line in the fresh intake hose goes to the T hose assembly under the radiator cover. Refer to arrow#3 in the pic below, which is the one going to fresh intake hose nipple.erikv11 wrote: ↑18 Nov 2019, 11:24 Your best bet is to consider where the vacuum lines belong, not what is already hooked up.

Look at the vacuum hose thread we keep pointing to, it looks like from your pic and sounds like the one pictured and labeled there as
"6. This T-connector provides vacuum to:
- EVAP Solenoid
- The port near the PTC Valve (Yellow Arrow)"
Is the other end connected to the EVAP solenoid, which is shown in the pics? I can't tell for sure from your pic but think so.

This where the left line of that T leads to just behind the bumper on driver side, next to the secondary air pump thingamajigger.erikv11 wrote: ↑18 Nov 2019, 12:23 Look at the vacuum hose thread we keep pointing to, it looks like from your pic and sounds like the one pictured and labeled there as

Refer to my pic below: so the 'hose already here' I had hooked to 'extra nipple'. The other end of 'hose already here' I had hooked to where the other end of IM line should have been. Now that I have removed 'hose already here' on both ends, what goes on the 'extra nipple' and where would that line go? In that post that had the lines numbered, this 'extra nipple' was labeled #2 but the end of #2 line wasn't shown. Unless I missed something. My brain is frying over the confusion and stress of these vacuum lines.

"Hose already here" hooks to the "extra nipple" you had that end of it correct.
Then it tees a couple times and has check valves, and a solenoid.
One end goes to the EVAP canister under the fender and you showed in a pic that one os still in place, all good.
The other end goes to a nipple on the intake snorkel *right next* to the PTC.
So to summarize: The line from the passenger side of the IM hooks up to the nipple that is *part of* the PTC, you may have that one in the right place I am not completely sure. But the "Hose already here" goes to a nipple on the intake snorkel *right next* to the PTC. So these two lines end up very close to one another, down there by the turbo.
You're getting there and the car will run better once this is all sorted out!
