Friend gave me a 2001 Volvo s40 that ran great but catch is he lost all the keys. I’m trying to give to my sister who is not well and could really use a free car?
Any advice? Is it even worth fixing?
The man who gave it to me found the key fob but still no keys.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thx

You could get it going again for $160.00 but at that price it not going to happen tomorrow. You will need to send them the immobilizer module they will make the key and program the immobilizer. Then send it back to you ready to go.
You might be able to find a local independent locksmith that can cut a key blank from the VIN number and program the key to the car.
You could go to Volvo dealer to get it done but that will to be expensive. Expect $400 - $500 + towing.
In all cases be prepared to provide proof of ownership. It can only be done for the registered owner. Keep in mind they can run the VIN number and find out who the car is titled to.
