New V70 R-design owner need help

Post by abester45 »

Hello folks. My name is Abe, always had a love for wagons my first was a Saabaru, then Legacy GT, now my first Volvo a 2010 V70 R-design. As soon as i saw one had to have it. Bought the car 2 months ago with 98K miles, has been great until we had a lot of rain and my passenger footwell and rear passenger side footwell became all well. Did some research and read the drain hose in sunroof is culprit. So took some compressed air and cleaned it out best i could and stuck a long wire to push out any debris. Decided to have my local Volvo dealer take a look as well to be safe and on the way there my ABS maintenace light came on. So Volvo folks said for the drain issue the neck and nipple where the water exits is gone and needs to replace those parts and the tube, cost for that $1,533! According to them they have to remove dash to get to these parts which was not mentioned in any of the posts. For the ABS issue they determined a sensor needed to be replaced that controls the belt tensioner, cost for that $900.00! So looking at $2,433 for total damage. I knew Volvos are a bit expensive to work on but $1500 for water drainage parts?? Do these prices sound justifiable? I love this car but there seem like a exorbitant amount can these issues be rectified in a less costly way?

From TBSs Carcomplaints.com

Maybe the water is entering else where? Did they remove some interior trim to look?

On my 03 S80 T6 I opened the sunroof and slowly poured water into the drain holes to see if water came out under the car and it did.

You can fix it yourself but a Volvo dealership charges atleast $135.00 an hour.
The ABS sensor doesn't make sense to me though. For the drainage issues you should remove some of the trim on that side to pull up carpet in front footwell. The get someone to pour water down the drains and watch where its coming from then repair.
