Volvo 850 SC 710 cassette adapter not working

So I bought a cassette adapter (they’re junk i know) for my 97 850 and there’s a constant humming noise and plugging in my phone offers no resolve. It’s an SC 710 radio which I know were the cheaper ones but I’m out of ideas for playing music. Any advice?

You can solder the aux plug into the tape head following thread directions in the stereo forum,works well.
