Remote starter not communicating with car

Post by qwertyjjj »

My remote starters are on a separate key fob to the ignition keys. They were working last year but have now stopped. I just replaced the batteries but same problem.
The light on the fobs is working so I suspect the car is not accepting the communication.
Any way to fix this?
Do I have to reprogram the car or is there something else wrong with the receiver?

It's a remote starter fob, not the actual key fob used in the ignition.

I'm actually not sure. It came with the car, probably installed by Volvo but I don't see any Volvo markings on the remote.

There's no generic reset on the car? I've seen examples where you turn the key to 2 and off 5 times then press lock on the remote.

So you're saying I might have a custom receiver. If so, where is the receiver likely located in the car?

Ou, it is interesting question. Need to ask company or guys who installed it there.
