2002 s60 tempature went right to hot when i started it.

2002 s60 tempature went right to hot when i started it.

Hello i am new to this forum please have patience with me.I have a 2002 s60 non turbo.I jumped in it yesterday morning and the tempature went right to hot.Checked motor was cold.Drove it appox 6 miles checked it again not hot temp still pinned to hot.Checked all fluids all where fine.Noticed didnt shift well either.Could you please help me with problem.Ideas or anything thank you.

Probably either a sensor or wiring problem with the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor , or ECT for short.

A volvo engine will run for about 30-60 seconds overheated before it is damaged to thousands of dollars of repairs, so be aware that you are driving without a 'warning system'

I will find some pictures to direct you to the connector of the ECT , you can check that for corrosion, otherwise, its a replacement for that component. Its about $50
