'06 XC70 air intake tube

Post by jimpierce7 »

I am just wondering if replacing the air intake tube, (in case I named it wrong), the tube that runs from the MAF to the not a turbo.
Seems pretty straight forward? A couple hose clamps, a wire connection and a few vacuum lines.
Anything particular I need to know or look out for?
I sure hpe this solves the issue and I can get her smogged. Then I can get to the task of the timing belt and water pump!

Is your Check Engine Light on?
If so retrieve the codes, write 'em down THEN erase them to clear the light.

What happened with the original hose?
Replace it with one that matches the old one.
Leave no small hose or connection unattached.

Yes sir. I'm at this point after all that. Even took her in to be smoke tested to find my vacuum leak.

Your 2006 XC is a turbo car, though.

The PCV system is a bit of bear to get to and get cleanly attached on a turbo car.

I have the intake tube off!! That back clamp on the turbo (not a turbo lol) was a bit tough to get to. Tomorrow I put the new one on and I can where a few vacuum leaks were including where the sensor (?) attaches to the tube. I need to get a couple new clamps and put it back together tomorrow.

as I understand all Volvos have a turbo? These just aren't listed as having one. Not sure why though.

In the first two generations of the 850 V70 cars you could buy either turbo or Naturally aspirated (NA) engines .

Engine number ends with T for turbo, S for NA

All XC , R , and T5 models are turbos

Base models areNA but can be fully loaded with options to the near full luxury of the line; I have one of these

To jimpierce7:

Back in the early years of my 2002 I read somewhere (meaning I can't verify the facts) that 70% of V70 production was NA.
Whether or not V70's and XC-70's were bunched together effects that statistic.
