Yes that is an exhaust valve
Looking for exhaust valves now. I see these came with sodium filled valves. Not seeing any oe replacements. Who makes a quality stainless valves with hardened surfaces?

So looking I can't find sodium filled valves. Will the valves in the 99 v70 turbo head fit? I hate to put used valves in. But if I can't find any. I may have to. I would like to do all 10 exhaust valves so they would be even in age.

So looking up part numbers the 1999 turbo 70 series won't work. Damn!
In more research they used the same valve in 2000-2004 40 series.
Is this correct. Part number 9471466

Also I read to get only a volvo head gasket. But others say Victor rienz is the same. Any other thoughts on the best set. Fel-pro, elwis?
Hoping to do all this next weekend but need to get everything coming and here before then. Supposed to be warmer and working outside without heat is no fun. So need to get valves and gaskets on there way by tomorrow. I located used original valves. Going to by a full set of 10 and save my good ones for spares. And do my own head rebuild. Seals and valve job. Any help appreciated!

The stem sizes changed in 1999

You do want the sodium filled valves in a turbo to carry away the extra heat produced

I was only able to find used sodium filled valves. Thanks. Any head gasket sets better than others?

I would go Volvo from a dealer or at least FCP for the head gasket. That’s a lot of work to redo if you use an unknown part

Victor Rein and Felpro are well respected makers, but it’s the supply chain you worry about here
