2004 S60 rack leak - stop leak?

Post by StickyPocket »

Hi all,

During an inspection, i was told i had a leak in my rack on the right side. I also noticed that the ps fluid reservoir is a little wet around where the two halves meet (even though i just replaced the reservoir this year). The fluid is CHF11S. Is it worth it to try a stop leak like Blue Devil Power Steering Stop Leak? Can i use that with CHF11S fluid?

People have better luck with ATP AT-205 RE-SEAL. Image

- How many miles?
- It'd be great if every thread seeking help starts with: year/model/engine/trans/mileage and any service history.
- This way we don't have to constantly ask for mileage.

- What brand is the reservoir?
- The cap seal might be a source of leak of PS fluid.

It has ~69,800 miles. 2004 S60 2.5T AWD. The reservoir was replaced with a genuine Volvo reservoir less than a year ago. Sorry about the lack of details!

There was an updated reservoir revision that does not leak, but you still can get an old version. I had the reservoir replaced on 02 V70, it never leaked ever again.

Right side can be wet because the inner CV boot is typically throwing grease. Did you see the rack leak with your own eyes?

Do not add anything to PS system unless you want to replace every bit of it.
