Adjusting Headlamps, Mechanism Broke Off

Post by MrAl »

Hello,

Following Robert's video the knob would not turn so i used a 10mm socket wrench.
Turning clockwise, the whole mechanism broke right off making it impossible to adjust the headlamps.

What went wrong and how to fix it?

If i had to guess i would say that the mechanism works ok (turns) but the headlamp itself is not able to move so it broke when turned.

Thanks.

That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Hello again,

Does anyone know how the tilt pivot works?
Does it pivot on some pin or something so the light can tilt up or down?

Thanks.

Volvo 740 (Hideous headlights)
Get a Morimoto HID kit.
Place headlight box in oven. Heat. Pry off lens. Install HID kit (with theretrofitsource.com help) glue lens/cover back. Finnish install while repairing or adjusting BROKE,POOR QUALITY,stupid,VOLVO HL adjusting parts.
Enjoy! It improves the car at night 100%.

Hi Robert,

Oh ok thanks. I was wondering how that all worked. I didnt get to take my light out yet but saw your video about taknig the three bolts out so the whole thing comes out. I hope to be able to do that myself.

Thanks again.

Be careful with those bolts, I had one strip out the metal insert in the plastic frame and a 2 minute headlight removal turned into an epic battle of 2 hours.

If it looks nasty get some penetrating oil onto it the day before. Not hard with the red twizzle stick
