C30 T5R Engine Code

Hi Guys,

Firstly wishing you all a great Christmas and and all the very best for the new year. Please drive careful and keep safe over the festive season.

I am new to Volvo's, not to cars as such, been involved with Porsche's and BMW's for over thirty years. Still have a couple. Recently bought a lovely 05 XC70. One owner car in absolutely amazing condition, inside and out. So Impressed I threw my hat in the ring and bought a C30 T5 R design manual. Looking at the engine and the code is B5254T4. The little thing goes very well. Is this correct engine code for this car?

Are you finding the B5254T4 on the block or a sticker?

B5254T4 was used in 2004–2007 Volvo S60 badged as S60 R AWD and 2004–2007 Volvo V70 II badged as V70 R AWD.

The 2008 C30 T5 and T5 R used a B5254T7.

I have seen this on other engines: The difference between the B5254T4 and the B5254T7 is all in the head and accessories. The lower ends are the same. Volvo may have used a B5254T4 lower end and converted it to a B5254T7 by installing the B5254T7 upper end and other accessories such as the turbo and software.

Yes stamped on the block above the engine number. I'm trying to get myself up to speed on the Volvo quirks, but boy oh boy.....so many variations of the same theme!
