sparkplug coil plug.replacement

My S60R-04 ignition coil plugs are brittle and the wires are braking and need to be replaced does any body know the part number and make of the plugs and the VVT plugs. new harness is horrendously expensive. for a bunch of wires and plastic plugs.

For the wire harness you'll need to go at a junkyard but I'd guess you'll have to cut it off. I think any S60 V70 harness will do, of course look for one with both VVT connectors - usually the 2.5T engines have both, and see if they are similar

Your best bet is to source a used harness in its entirety. Hopefully the king of parts, RickHaleParker will use his magic to find you the correct harness part number.

In the interim - the wire loom is famous for cracking and crumbling. What you want to do is clean off the wire loom and replace it with some rubber hose, that is what I did. I cut some pliable hose that is heat and oil resistant to the desired length and slit it in a coil fashion, you can do this with a scissors. By cutting in a coil fashion the hose will close on itself once fitted. I then zip tied as needed. For any broken wires you will have to cut, solder and shrink rap the repair (or use an appropriate crimp) - just make sure you don't cross wires and use the appropriate heat rated shrink wrap. I removed as much loom until I found the point it was solid - then electrical taped the seam.

I found it helps to use high temperature rated (at least 275 F) if you use wire loom instead of hose to cover the wires. Also, use high temperature rated electrical tape like 3M Super 88.

The entire engine harness is one part and it is Volvo part number 8637706 ~$600.00.

The coil pack harness is on top of the engine where heat can get trapped. There is a rather good chance the rest of the Engine harness is good.

I would get some Coil pack connector housing (8637706), Terminal pins (978262) some wiring and make a coil pack harness. Then NASA splice it to the rest of the Engine harness.

Thanks, do you know what make these connectors are? this is information is what I needed,

I am based overseas and the $600 can be added to the price for posting.

( have bought old connectors but they are brittle as well)

If you buy one off eBay make sure you get the right VVT , there are three variants
