I recall testing an ETM in my 2000 V70 (P80) that had no other error other than making the car call up O2 sensor codes. Entirely possible as the mixtures are determined by throttle angle. I removed it the codes disappeared. The Denso management system at its best perhaps?

I would be sending that XeModex unit in for warranty work; they don't get better, only worse with time, unlike a good red.

XeModex supplied rebuilt unit in August of 2017 or thereabouts. Done about 17k miles since then. Have been getting sporadic ETS lights for many, many months.

Point of Note!! Xemodex lifetime warranty is for original repair owner only!! Next owner is on their own as I found out even after a 2 year old repair. Fortunately it was an ABS unit so naturally went to our friend Matty.

Technically, I’m driving Evita on consignment, though.

Jan 2023 update. Same car now at 250k, ETS light comes on about 4x per annum, self corrects in a day or two

I have had ETS light once or twice with my car and it's Xemodex rebuilt unit. Don't know if it is the car or the unit. Mind you it is now a 10 year + old repair.

The 2006 software fix is saving us on these cars. The early version would go limp on the first reported clash of sensor readings. I suspect the later/ latest software uses the sensor that seems reasonable and keeps you driving.

Being able to buy the late Volvo ones at $150 is the best solution , though. I’ve used one of my spares in a futile attempt to fix a fuel problem of overconsumption of tank capacity so I still have two spares for four 1999s

Are these junkyard finds, or are you sourcing ETM units from somewhere else?

I’m considering options for a bad ETM in my ‘00 n/a (part no. 9186793) and looking at the online auction site, as well.

Junkyards, eBay, etc. Anywhere you can find used parts, really. I always try to grab the later (2013 or so) date code units from the yards, as those as the best solution IMO (as Abscate said).
