I wish you luck. I tried to do it on our 01 xc70, spent hours on it, and finally ended up putting the car back together and taking it to my friends professional shop. He bent a good quality pickle fork but finally got it out. Although I was trying to do it in my driveway I'm an ex-ASE tech and never had a problem doing front axles prior to that.

I wonder how many of the "difficult" CV removals are related to aftermarket circlips. I know at least five times I have reused the original circlip as the replacement that came with the CV was impossible to get installed b/c it was slightly larger.
