Hi. Just got a 92 960 (I've had a 93 850 glt for 3 yrs until last week) anyway, I was wanting to replace spark plug and wires, distributor cap, rotor, etc. Went on to FCP and they did not have wires listed for my car. Is this right? Or are they called something else?
Also, my instrument cluster doesn't seem to want to work all the time:gas gage, speedometer, mileage--is this something easy to fix?
And, the radio is a Volvo radio, and I have read some of the posts about them and was wondering about the code thing. When I turn mine on, it just has "off" and won't respond to anything. I didn't get a manual with it and I am now ordering a Haynes manual to help but from past experince Ya'll are more helpful than the book.
Anyway, if anyone has infromation about this vehicle (anything I need to be aware of) please let me know!!
Thanks,
ancv

The inline 6 cylinder does not have spark plug wires or a distributor.
Under the black and silver Volvo cover on top on the engine hides the 6 coils that connect directly to the spark plugs.
As to your radio, when it states "off" instead of "code" means someone tried unsuccessfully to boot the radio. Normally when the power to the radio is cut, when it is turned back on one has three attempts to enter the 4 digit code, when that fails, it shuts off. Once you get the proper code, you will have power up the radio and leave for a few hours with out touching it, forget the exact time, but once the correct time has passed the radio will then show the word "code". You get three more attempts. If you don't have the code, a dealer should be able to match your radio up with your vin# for it. If your current radio is a replacement one from a bone yard, well you may never get it up.

Leave the ignition switched to the accessories position and the radio switched 'On' for about 2 hours.
The radio code for the original factory fitted radio can be obtained from a Volvo dealer, free of charge, by quoting the VIN. This can sometimes be done by phone but some dealers will require a personal visit to verify ownership of the car.
For a radio fitted from another vehicle the code can be obtained, free of charge, by quoting the serial number of the radio. Again, depending on the dealer this could be done by phone or may need a personal visit.
Bill.
