I am considering re-soldering the unit myself but found a place that'll redo it for about $100 (Midwest Modules), Xmodex already has enough of my money...
Thanks for the heads up on the under the hood fuses, will check them asap.
One other thing, i have read conflicting advice on clearing codes/warning message/lights, i've cleared them with the scan tool (and they pop right back up) but some say you have to drive the car for them to really go away, appreciate any experience you all have had.
Again, thanks for all the help, haven't felt this level of solidarity since i was driving air cooled Volkswagens!!
ABS issues, bad ABS pump methinks...

The saga continues: Talked with Matt at Midwest Modules and he said the 2001 xc abs module rarely went bad (thanks Matt!), so i was going to check the relays on the CEM that deal with brakes but, for the life of me, cannot find a link that shows the purpose of each relay on that module, any leads are appreciated!

There are two different possible abs systems stc and dstc
there's no relays in either circuit, what looks like a relay in the diagram (3/9) is the brake light switch

Thanks for the schematics. I'm going to send the abs module to Matt at midwest modules to eliminate it as the culprit, as i'm told the cem rarely throws one sub system off (the abs in this case) and because the abs, traction and brake lights have come on and stayed on (as well as the apocalyptic warning message.) Bad wire? Also, do you know if the abs pump motor is supposed to run all the time? There is no power to the pump when idling, in neutral, and i know the motor works

The pump motor will only engage when there is a demand for the system (when wheel slip or lockup is detected).

ah, okay, but wouldn't the motor itself spin up all the time? otherwise i can't imagine it responding quickly enough to do any good. Otherwise hard to believe the brushes ever wear out on those motors!
Thanks for input!

No, the motor comes on only when commanded.
From a cold start, in a quiet place, you can hear their motor self-test at about 10 mph with a quick, 1/2 second, bbbbrrrrppppp.

Hi All,
Turns out the ABS module itself was bad and irreparable (i had sent it to Matt at Midwest Modules), I have a "new" one on the way, hope that does the trick! Thanks to all of of you for your help.
