Oil Leak in Engine Compartment

Hi,

I was changing the oil today on my 2009 S80 3.2 (96,500 miles), and noticed some sort of oil on the driver’s side of the plastic tray that you have to remove to access the oil pan plug. I then looked in the engine, and noticed that the entire area around where the transmission fluid fill port is located is covered with some sort of oil.

Any idea of what could be leaking? Oil level was fine when I changed the oil today, and brake fluid level, steering fluid level, and coolant levels were fine.

Check the transmission fluid. It could be leaking or it may have overheated. If the transmission fluid gets too hot it will percolate out the vent or dipstick. June

Thanks. There is no dipstick on this model. I should note, there is some oil on some engine components above the transmission fluid fill plug as well.

Check your brake vacuum pump where it bolts to the head. Common seal leak. See video link.

Thanks. There was some oil around there. Is that crankshaft oil leaking out of there, then?
