Anyone have experience with FCS suspension parts?

A mid-size luxury crossover SUV, the Volvo XC90 made its debut in 2002 at the Detroit Motor Show. Recognized for its safety, practicality, and comfort, the XC90 is a popular vehicle around the world. The XC90 proved to be very popular, and very good for Volvo's sales numbers, since its introduction in model year 2003 (North America). P2 platform.

Anyone have experience with FCS suspension parts?

Post by shiloh51933 »

My wife's 2004 XC90 T6 front struts are squeaking and I'm ready to swap in some new struts. Normally I go with Sachs on all of my Volvo's over the years. Our 2004 XC70 has brand new Sachs all around with Lemfordor Coil Springs in the back and Sachs quick Struts up front. I was going to purchase Sachs quick struts up front for her 2004 XC90 T6 but there not available for this vehicle. During my vigorous search I came across the FCS quick strut for her XC90. I did some background searching on FCS and found that there doing manufacturing in Detroit, Michigan. I like the fact that auto parts are actually being manufactured in Motor City Detroit but I know nothing about the quality/reliability of there parts. Anyone who has any experience with there parts please chime in.

The newer Sachs struts have a rubber lower spring seat which makes the front units much quieter.

I couldn't believe the difference in sound suppression when we ordered just the Sachs struts and received lower spring seats for a customer's 2007 vehicle.

Unless FCS are supplying these with lower seats I wouldn't bother.

Thank you. Bilsteins are excellent, I've installed there coil springs on other vehicles with Sachs Struts and Bilstein struts. I'm really curious about this FCS Company though. Made in America...I like the sound of that.

To my recollection the lower seat rubber comes with the strut because it's part of the strut body. It's the uppers seat you have to buy separately. At work we replace everything but the coil spring on front strut assemblies, (strut mount, upper bearing, upper seat, strut and hardware). I don't remember ever having to buy lower seat rubber on a Macpherson.

I ordered the FCS after reading a lot of positive reviews. I'm doing the front Macpherson strut assemblies, (Moog)sway bar links and (Moog)tie rod ends. The Macpherson strut assemblies look well made, came with new hardware and the ABS clip was actually included. I kept the Genuine Volvo Strut Assemblies, they were the second set that was replaced at Ramsey Volvo in NJ.

Did you get a set of FCS Quick Strut Assemblies? I almost ordered the FCS Front Struts for the 08 C30. I did some research and almost purchased it because of the Lifetime Warranty but would prefer to go through the manufacturer. Unfortunately, you have to go through CARiD if you buy it from them. Looks like a good company from my research also.

Wrong forum but I did purchase a set of Quick Struts with 10 years warranty for my 03 S80. Hope to install them next week. I have found that eBay will help warranty products if the Manufacturer is slow to respond so I purchase them from eBay instead of direct. This company has been very customer friendly and had provide answers quickly on question about 2 other purchases. They also send an email after purchase to make sure you are happy with the product.

Yes.

The vendor I purchased them through is reputable and yes they have lifetime warranty. Normally I'd go with factory (Sachs) but I didn't feel like tearing the entire assembly's down and Sachs doesn't offer a pre-assembled Macpherson struts for my XC90 T6. They look great and ride nicely.
