What are we thinking!? ... The battery charger is not need. Take the alternator off and use it to build the genny. you couldn't loop the pump back on the road unless you were desperate. You would need a tubing cutter or hack saw to ruin the
high pressure line and get it on the return line with a hose clamp and extra fluid you would have to bleed out of the transmission cooler line with only an old coffee cup to catch it, to put in the resivour. then you would probably fine the velocity back to the pump would froth the fluid out the cap.

I can see from the diagram a short belt won't work. It reminds me when I was in Cuba 20 years ago. A driver was taking me east from Havana and the belt broke. I said we can wait for the car to cool and almost coast into the town ahead and get a belt at the auto parts store. He said "what do you think this is paradise? there is no parts there." To him, paradise is where you can get parts for your car. I asked to see his trunk and found some clothes line and made a belt that lasted two hours till my destination in that Russian Pugeot copy.

It has been reported here that someone has driven an empty PS pump with just residual oil in it for 100 miles, one week with no ill effects.

I've driven mine for 2 weeks of daily driving before with almost none in it because I didn't have money for a new res and fluid. Its pretty darn tough to turn though crawling through parking lots. Not something I would want to do again.
