Door panel buttons not working

Post by inktuce »

Hi everyone,

I have a 2001 Volvo C70 2.3L T5 and recently the door panel buttons (fuel door, trunk, and door locks) stopped working. The power windows still work, and I can lock/unlock my doors and open the trunk from the remote. The fuses are fine. Any ideas??

Thanks!

The panel on the door may have failed. On 4 door P80 chassis Volvos it is common at this age. The contacts burn out. Sometimes if you like a challenge, you can disassemble and try cleaning the contacts. I have had some success but it is not a 100%. I have not worked on a 2 door assembly but believe it would be similar.

The fact that the fob still works would suggest it is no broken wires in the door where it meets the A pillar. Last place to check would be the trunk cables on the trunk hinge assembly. Again the gas cap lid does not rout through there.

Go to the RH door and push and release the lock button on that side. It seems that a stuck button anywhere results in the VGLA module for locks and such on the 98-04 shuts down.
