850r starting issue
96 850r, when I turn the key to engage the starter all the power cuts off and will not come back until I disconnect the battery. Then the symptoms only repeat. Before trying to start the motor ( in accessory and run) I have power and everything works. Battery is fully charged showing 12.7v. I’ve cleaned grounds and had the started bench tested and it passed. Could the immobilizer antenna ring be the cause? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like a power feed issue.
I would check relays under the fuse box cover.
Immobiliser works in a different way...and U.S market cars didn't had chipped keys untill '99.

Yeah Taylor, you’ve got a problem either internal in your battery or in the cables. Could be in the big fat ones running down to the starter, the connection at the starter, or the smaller red cable that runs off the positive terminal that feeds the fuse box.

I did notice that one of the terminals housing like 5 red wires on the positive side was broken so I replaced it to no avail. I’m going to clean all contacts on the battery really well and make sure the cables are in good shape. Also, once I connect the battery back up the alarm is tripped. Is that normal? I just lock and unlock the door and it stops. This car sat in an Oklahoma pasture for the last three years so it needs some love.
