Quoted ~$400 to fix passenger side mirror - ouch! It's motorized (retractable) and heated. It still folds, don't know if heat still works - assuming it does.
To me it looks like (see pic) just the glass is missing, but when I look closely I see various connectors and clips.
I'd like to save money and do the job myself - any shot shot someone can tell from the picture what parts I really need to fix it - is it just the glass?
Thank you.
can anyone diagnose this broken mirror - trying to avoid dealer

You can look here for the parts: https://www.volvowholesalepartsdirect.com/
If it were me, I'd just buy one from Erie Vo-Vo like these: https://www.erievovo.com/used-parts/VOL ... /2006/?k=1
Easy enough to install, look for tips on removing the door panel so you don't break the tabs there. I use a paint scraper and just slide it along until I feel a tab, then just pop the panel outwards. Need to remove the two screws under the interior handle cover.
Could also get the p/n and find on ebay; but I'd just go with Erie.
*edit, just saw you're in NY, Erie VoVo is too (realize that location is relative)

The heating element is glued behind the glass part. I think your are also missing the pivot mount plate on which the mirror clamps. You can see the plate at 0:55 www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAUUiRhKWlA Try rather Ebay for a used unit

Thanks to those that replied.
I was able to track down the exact parts needed. Supposedly there are 3 parts for this fix. The housing that the glass goes into - part #30745227, the glass itself - part #8650153 and the back cover - part #30720005. Since the back cover of mine is intact, no need to reorder that so I'm planning on picking up the two other parts myself and installing. A friend seems to think it's no too bad - just need to remove the door moulding to get at mirror screws according to him.
BTW, I misunderstood the quote to get it fixed at the dealer - the labor alone is ~$400 and the three parts total $875 - somewhere around $1,275 all in! Can't make it up...
I will check in to post how it went once installed.

You will need to take off the door card or at least the front most part of it to unplug the electrical connection to the mirror. Here is a video, you can see the green plug at 2:18, the first plug he undoes is the speaker wires.
