I see as many Gen II now as Gen I

Post by matthew1 »

XC90s on the streets here, that is.

They look great. I just ran across this on Car & Driver comments on the Cayenne:
The first generation Cayenne has not aged well.

I'd give the nod to the XC60 and XC90 as the best looking in the segment, especially in their R trim
I agree - Volvo makes the best looking SUVs, hands-down.
Porsche's evolutionary approach with the 911 and Boxster didn't work for the Cayenne. Since the first gen was a cartoonish take on the 911, evolution seems to have to focused on normalization - watering down the awkwardly applied 911 cues - rather than refining something good to begin with.

Volvo, on the other hand, created a striking design language with the first XC90 that only gets better with each variation on its theme. Like an older 911, the first gen XC90 still looks good today.
I agree with these statements.

+1 and what's not mentioned is how much better the current XC90 drives especially the 2019 up. 2020 seems quieter engine wise. June
