Hi,
I have a problem with Volvo S60 2003MY. It is bought second hand and history is quite unknown. Car is working fine but instrument cluster is dead. Only check engine light is working. PCB was re-soldered but it hadn't any effect. I doubt that earlier owner has swapped cluster from another car but that is not sure.
DIM has following numbers:
VCC P/No 8637993
P/No 8602471
S/No 2248
YZK P/No 69294-620T
Bar code: 0886889
Could that DIM be original for this car? If not, could this be re-flashed for it? Could someone provide suitable flash and eeprom dump?
Current car owner called Volvo dealer and they said that this DIM is not for this Volvo. Original should have numbers 8633807 and 60886889 but I think that those numbers does not have any sense at all. They just don't match any existing DIM models.
Instrument cluster dead

I have no idea of the coding or serialization of these things.
Likely a previous owner swapped in an available unit (junkyard?) given the dealer's "knowledge".
They'd love to just sell you a new unit.
Was the "resoldering" done by a pro with practice or was it done by a rookie?
Are communications with the previous owner possible? Ask him if he changed the DIM. Ask him if he still has the old one!
I think I read somewhere that they are not reflashable but I'm not certain.
I also remember reading that communications with VIDA is halted by incorrectly addressed components.
Can you read the CEL code?
