Connectors under the rear seats

Connectors under the rear seats

When i removed rear seats for parking brake cable replacement today i found two connectors at each sides under the rear seats.
What are they for...rear heated seats?
'97 850 2.5 20v / fully equipped / Motronic 4.4 from the factory / upgraded with S,V,C,XC70 instrument cluster / polar white wagon

Yes, these are the mythical rear seat heater options that abscate keeps talking about. It was an actual option.

Are the heaters the same as in front seats?
Connectors are pretty different.

Maybe speakers? I know pulling apart the rear door panel shows wiring/plugs leading to an empty bay for speakers.. just without any speakers. Maybe there was an option that had two huge bass speakers under the rear seats haha

I believe the rear seat heaters are much more common than the 3rd seat heaters:)

We fail to consider that Volvos were and still are sold in some markets for executive car service. The P80 was one of the platforms that got that option. In US there was a big fleet sale to Boston Coach for executive car service and those got heated rear seats and caused that odd for that time option to show up the occasional 1998 to 2004 car mentioned on here.

I cannot verify the two part number for the heating elements. Perhaps Ozark Lee can recall where he came up with the part numbers.

So....switches are different(just looks the same) than front ones....heaters different too.
