Replaced the heater core in my 2002 S40, straightforward uneventful procedure. Plugged all wire harnesses back in, replaced the dash and when I reconnected the battery I discovered that the DIM wasn't functioning at all; in addition, I found that the fuse titled 'Position Light' in the fuse box under the hood was blown. I replaced it and it blew again, clearly a short to ground somewhere. I removed the DIM and replaced the same fuse, this time it didn't blow. My question is, does it seem likely that the DIM developed a short as a result of being removed and put back and is it likely the short in the DIM could be causing the issue? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Jim

"Position Light" is Volvo-speak for Corner Lights AKA Parking lights ... they mark the car's position.
More likely it is a lighting wiring harness that got moved to a condition where it shorted when the dim was reinstalled.

The other is that in addition to the DIM not working, the headlights and taillights remain on even when the ignition has been switched off. Also...the only way I get ANY lights coming up on the DIM is if I activate the high beams, when I do this I get SOME of the display coming up on the DIM, as soon as I release the high beam switch, the DIM goes dead again. Does this point to any particular location in the electrical system? Thanks again for ANY insight you may offer!
